Please be sure to let either Krista or Jesse know what your think about the split locations.  Your feedback is vital as we grow and shape the group to be the networking and learning resource YOU need it to be.  Please RSVP at your earliest convenience so we know how much soda and snacks to buy for the meeting.

Controlling Direct Data Access in SQL Server

Speaker: Jason Bunn, Data Services Manager Sentry Insurance

Summary: There is an ever present and increasing threat of data leaving your organization. From Target, to Anthem, to the recent Yahoo incident, a data breach is a reality about which every database administration and security team should be concerned. It is tempting to simply remove access for everyone, but the fact is many developers have legitimate, but limited, need to access data. This presentation is a demonstration of how an administrator can balance these two conflicting demands.

About Jason: Jason Bunn is a Data Services Manager and leads the SQL Server DBA team at Sentry Insurance. He has been a DBA for over 10 years, working with SQL Server 2000 and later. Prior to his time at Sentry, he worked as an aerospace engineer and wrote flight and ground software for both civilian and military spacecraft. He holds degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University. When not working with data, Jason can be found in the wonderful chaos that is life while raising four school-aged children.
